I'm a motion designer, illustrator and educator by trade. I've done work as an automotive photo-retoucher and graphic designer too. I teach digital art and animation at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan. I have worked in the visual arts medium in southeast Michigan for over 25 years and counting. I also was a contributing author on Tuts+, a learning hub for the digital and traditional commercial art industries.

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. I've loved art ever since I bought my first Batman comic book and saw my first Star Wars movie. My life-long collaborator and wife, Deanna, introduced me to the Commercial Art courses at Macomb Community College and Wayne State University (I was studying to be a fireman at the time... really).

My first job in the commercial art field was a Junior Designer position at MSX International, an engineering company with an industrial design and graphics department. I worked throughout that company for about six years, and then moved on to marketing and advertising at Aspen Marketing Services. After several years there, I moved on to The Quintek Group as a lead artist and motion designer.

In early 2002, I was offered a chance to teach art and animation classes in the same department that I used to be a student in. It is very gratifying to be able to help others the way I was helped. I enjoy watching others discover new abilities and talents they didn't know they had.

Overall, I enjoy what I do very much, and strive to constantly better myself through experience and practice. I am at my best when working with individuals who share the same passion and commitment to creating quality art, in whatever form.
